Ladies 2s vs Alderley Edge 3

Following a 6-0 pummelling against Crewe and a full bottle of wine fuelled “movie night” painfully watching last week’s game, Wilmslow twos were apprehensive about playing an always rapid Alderley edge threes.

They needn’t have worried. Wilmslow came out guns a blazing, keen to make amends and dominated from the off. Molly G caught the end of a well drilled in ball early in the game to slam the ball in the goal to give Wilmslow the 1-0 lead. 

Alderley came back soon after putting away a rebound from a short corner. But Wilmslow remained on top with some classy and recently practised defensive transfers around the back utilising Jen s, rach h, anya and dymond. Emma put in some critical saves to keep Wilmslow level pegging. 

Feg, abbey and Mabel worked hard in midfield to support the forwards, carefully retaining possession ,stepping in front and closing down.

The legs and 3D skills of thea and Famke (MOM) proved too much for the Alderley defence, and Wilmslow went 2-1 up from a well taken goal by Famke. We have the massage gun to thank for reviving thea’s crazily quick limbs 🙏 ! 

Despite the 25degree weather, Wilmslow remained composed and calm and went into half time on the up, retaining most of the possession. 

Super sub Sophie c arrived at half time much to the delight of the entire team, and came on causing trouble to the Alderley midfield. Molly also put a considerable shift in at top diamond and was rapidly redeployed back on once coach noticed she had been off for an extended period of time!!

Thea slammed home a well deserved straight strike PC in the second half to make it 3-1, and the game was put to bed in the last ten mins by another excellently taken strike from Famke.

Team spirit high, the girls enjoyed a dominant game in the sunshine putting all the dudsy training from Tuesday into practise. Special thanks to soph for coaching!
