Marshalling: Wilmslow Summer 10k, 13th July

Please sign up now in Teamo to be a marshal for the Wilmslow Summer 10k on the morning of Sunday 13th July! 

Marshalling is fun and helps raise vital funds for the club. We need lots of people for this event! Please bring your friends, parents, children, uncles, aunts, cousins – the more the better! Parents/guardians – bring a junior member! Juniors – bring a parent or adult! 

Please mark yourself as “available” with the green tick in Teamo as soon as possible but no later than 6th July. If you want to be positioned together, or are bringing someone who is not a member, please let Sharon Holford, or Martin Wright know. (We need to know who is coming so we can assign pairs to positions on the course a few days ahead of time).

Why do we ask members to marshal this event? 

Wilmslow Hockey Club members have been marshalling at local running events for over 30 years! Marshalling is part of who we are and it is a vital fundraiser for the club. Marshalling income raises over £6,500 a year - that’s equivalent to ~20% of membership income for the year. Marshalling income means we can keep membership fees down. 

We would like EVERY adult member and EVERY junior member (U18s, U15s with a parent) to marshal AT LEAST ONE RACE EVERY YEAR. There are c.240 club members plus friends and family - more than enough to marshal all three races if we all do our bit. 

Marshalling isn't anything to worry about! It's: 

• Fun – entertaining, good humoured and you can marshal with your friends/family 
• Rewarding - runners show their appreciation to the marshals 
• Easy - doesn’t require any skills or knowledge, we give you guidance 
• Short – it’s over in ~2-3 hours on a Sunday morning 
• Inspiring - to see so many runners and feel part of the community. 

We will make sure you have all the support you need and will position you with more experienced marshals if you are concerned.
