Teas Delivery - Update to Captains

This page explains how home teas delivery will work this half-season. In summary, the captain of the 2nd home team on Saturday will be responsible for finding a volunteer team member to collect the hot food and deliver to the clubhouse kitchen. Details below.

I’ve also shared below the feedback from members on home teas in the club survey and a reminder of the teas ordering process. If you have any questions or concerns, please shout!

As you know we source home teas from Potyo Coastal Indian in Wilmslow. We only give them a budget of £3 per head which means they barely make any profit - but they like to support the local community and they have been very helpful and amenable.

DELIVERY RESPONSIBILITY ON CAPTAINS & TEAMS

  • Potyo have used a Deliveroo driver to deliver the food but this is no longer viable. (There are no reliable drivers in the area - the money is elsewhere on Saturday lunchtimes. Taxi’s would be expensive and drivers unlikely to take responsibility to collect/deliver the food to the right place on time). 
  • Therefore we (the club) need to take responsibility for finding one person every Saturday who will collect all the food for everyone.
  • As we’ve done before, the second team of the day will need to find a volunteer to collect the food and place it in the warming drawer in the kitchen (on the lowest heat). 
  • We need to rely on captains to find/volun-tell or otherwise appoint someone to collect the food when it’s their turn. It won’t happen very often so it is not a massive burden, and can be shared across team members through the season.
  • The second captain of the day needs to be responsible for making sure this happens otherwise there’s no food for any of the matches!
  • Example: if Team A is playing at 1030 and Team B at 1230, someone from Team B (player, supporter etc) needs to collect the food in time to arrive at 1200 latest (when Team A finish). 
  • Example: if no-one is playing the 1030 slot, but Team C is starting at 1230 and Team D starting at 1430, then Team D should collect the food, delivered in time for 1400 (when Team C finish).
  • For Sat 24th January, M2s are the second game, so Charlie needs to find a volunteer. (I’ve offered to collect the food this time)
  • For Sat 31st January, M1s are the second game, so Sam needs to find a volunteer.
  • And so on.


FEEDBACK ON TEAS FROM THE SURVEY

  • Home teas are generally well received: of the 58 who have tried the food and responded, 75% rated the food “Very Good” or “Good”. (20% “OK" and just 5% “Poor”)
  • From the 28 comments, wraps appear more popular than the curry & rice [but wraps are much more labour intensive to make]
  • Several people request some form of variety.
  • As a result we’ve agreed with Potyo a 2-2-2 week cycle – alternating wraps with 2 curry/rice variants.
  • I’ll try to post the “menu” and “allergens” on the Teamo newsfeed every Friday.


REMINDER ON TEAS ORDERING

  • Order deadline: Teas orders need to be sent to Potyo by Thursday night (ideally 8pm) - via WhatsApp
  • Order quantities: please try not to over-order: we have had quite a lot of wastage at the end of a Saturday. (I totally appreciate it’s hard to know exactly how many home and away players will stay for food, but please try not to order a few more “just in case”)
