Final clubhouse readiness - please help on Sunday!

Please help from 10am Sunday morning with final readiness of the clubhouse including final painting, snagging, cleaning and trips to the tip!

Jobs on Sunday 12th Nov

We're now in the final stages of getting the clubhouse ready to use again!

Please come along on Sunday to help with any of the following:

  • taking old tables and chairs to the tip (lots of individual trips needed!)
  • touch up the last bits of paintwork we might have missed
  • remove accidental paint drops from floors
  • put things back on the walls and general snagging
  • clean any areas that have been neglected in the past weeks.

If we can get all this done, the clubhouse will hopefully be open at the end of next week.

NB We're hosting an U8's tournament at the club in the afternoon. Why not stick around to help or watch the future of Wilmslow Hockey Club!

Progress update

New furniture is here

  • All of the furniture has arrived, and a mammoth effort by 5 volunteers on Thursday has seen all the tables constructed, the sofas made and the bar stools ready for action.

Bar area

  • Phil Jones starts work on the bar area on Monday, funded by the brewery.

Painting almost complete

  • With the help of a small, dedicated group of volunteers, the clubhouse has been re-painted throughout - including the clubroom, hall, toilets and changing rooms.
  • There are still a few areas that could use a touch-up but we're almost there!
  • We hope you'll notice how much cleaner and smarter it looks when you see it

Hot water and plumbing

  • While there is now hot water to the showers, one of the mixer valves is not working properly and there's only hot water in the orange side of the changing rooms
  • Phil and the heating engineers are working steadily through a number of issues

Kitchen operational

  • The kitchen has been operational for a few weeks now, but we now have the new dishwasher.

Thank you's

We are all indebted to a small group of members, family and friends who have made all of this happen. In particular, Penny Sparrow has been the driving force behind the successful insurance claim and the restoration of the clubhouse. Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who has helped with this enormous effort. We'll publish the names of everyone who has help just as soon as the clubhouse is back in use!
