Clubhouse and bar open!

Clubhouse and bar open!

Our Clubhouse and bar are now OPEN!

Following the clubhouse flooding, a huge amount of effort has gone into securing the insurance claim money and renovating the clubhouse throughout.

  • The clubhouse has been repainted throughout including the hallway, changing rooms and clubroom
  • The bar itself has been renovated by the brewery and restocked.
  • We have new furniture in the clubroom including new sofas, tables and bar stools
  • The kitchen has been cleaned from top to bottom and a replacement dishwasher installed.

While we used professionals for repairing floors and walls, the rest of the work was done largely by volunteers from the hockey club - painting, cleaning, mending, assembling and removing old gear to the tip etc.

Although not caused by the flood, repairs and improvements have also been made to the hot water, waste water and electrics.

There are a few bits to finish off here and there (including re-plumbing the disabled toilet), but the clubhouse is now substantially complete!

We can now all be proud of our smart new clubhouse - we all now need to take responsibility for its upkeep. Please make sure you do not leave any kit in kit room overnight - this is for in-day storage only.

The final part of the project is to improve our flood defence at the front entrance to the clubhouse.

Thank you to our generous seat sponsors

Just over 60 people sponsored seats in the clubhouse, allowing us to replace the vast majority of the shabby seats that have been in the clubhouse for a decade or more.

Your seats will all have a label affixed in due course.

We can still accept late seat sponsors! For details see here.

Thank you to our volunteer hero's

We are all indebted to a small group of members, family and friends who have made all of this happen. In particular, Penny Sparrow has been the driving force behind the successful insurance claim and the restoration of the clubhouse. Thank you Penny!

Thank you to the small group of dedicated volunteers who worked so hard to renovate the clubhouse. (It's always trying to name everyone who helped - if I've missed anyone please let me know!). See names and photos below.
