Club Bulletin: Summer 2025

Welcome to the summer edition of our Club Bulletin. We have an important request for all members and parents/guardians, plus some recent news and future events to highlight. 

REQUESTS:

Marshalling (13th July): we still need many more volunteer marshals for the Wilmslow Summer 10k. Marshalling is fun and makes a contribution to the community as well as being an important fundraising event for the club. Parents and juniors are encouraged to take part too. Bring your friends and relations - the more the better! Please let us know in Teamo if you are available to help (and if you are not).  Click here for more information. 

NEWS:

EH ClubMark: we are proud to have renewed the club’s ClubMark accreditation. The ClubMark process is to help create a safe and positive environment for club members and to ensure hockey clubs are operating within the minimum operating standards. Our new Development Plan sets out how we will continue to improve the club too.  Click here for more information.

Car park extension: the car park extension (next to the astro) has been completed and is in use. This is the first step towards the potential future construction of a second astroturf pitch at the club. While we have no immediate plans to raise funds or construct the second astro, completion of the car park constitutes "breaking ground", the first tangible step towards a second astro. It therefore preserves our planning permission indefinitely, until we are ready to proceed. Construction was funded from WPAL and donations from Wilmslow Running Festival (as a result of marshalling). Thanks to Alan Murdoch for achieving this important milestone.  Click here for more information and photos.

WHAT'S ON?

Summer social hockey (Wednesdays in July): Mixed, summer, social hockey is back! We're planning some fun, causal games from 7-8pm every Wednesday in July. We encourage you to join in and bring your friends - especially if they might become new members! The bar will be open afterwards too! Summer, social hockey is open to members and non-members.  Buy tickets in Teamo in advance.   Click for more information.

Membership for 2025/2026: from 1st July you will see messages inviting you to register in Teamo as a member for the new year and pay your membership subscription. Membership subscriptions are due by 1st September but if the deadline or amount is causing you financial difficulties please talk to our membership secretary (Sarah Brickhill) - we can always find ways to help members where there is a genuine need. Adult members can also pay via 3 instalments in July, August and September.

Club Open Day (6th Sept): keep your diary free for our fun Club Open day and bring your friends, family and potential new members to celebrate the start of the new season. This is an important recruitment event for adults and juniors - new or non-members are very welcome! Watch out for more details nearer the time.

Social events: we are planning a range of different social events throughout the new season. If you have a favourite social event you would like to see, or would be willing to help organise one or more event, please let Sophie Pearson or Becca Healey know.
